Diablo 4 is adding a rogue-like horde mode in Season 5

Jun-24-2024 PST Category: Diablo4

Diablo 4's upcoming Season 5 introduces an exciting new endgame mode called "Infernal Hordes," which combines horde-style gameplay with rogue-like elements. This mode arrives just before the release of the "Vessel of Hatred" expansion and aims to further enhance the game's endgame experience.

Key Features of Infernal Hordes Mode

    Horde and Rogue-Like Combination:

Players have 90 seconds per wave to survive and defeat as many enemies as possible.

After each wave, players choose between three "Infernal Offers" with positive and negative effects, known as "Boons and Banes," which will influence the rest of their run.

    Rewards System:

The primary goal is to collect "Burning Aether," which can be spent on themed chests at the end of the final wave. These chests allow players to target-farm specific items and materials.

    Final Challenge:

Players must travel to the Well of Hatred to fight the Fell Council, a group of bosses reminiscent of those from Diablo 2.

    Tiered Difficulty:

Different tiers of Infernal Hordes will be available, with the final tier unlocking at Level 100, providing a challenging endgame activity.

Additional Updates in Season 5

    Quality of Life Improvements:

Boss fights can now be replayed by re-summoning the bosses instead of resetting dungeons.

Increased Diablo 4 Gold drops from bosses.

Streamlined Beast in Ice boss fight.

Reduced time to complete bounties (Whispers).

Unique and Mythic Unique items have expanded drop locations, and Mythic Uniques will now appear in purple for better visibility.

        Enhanced drops from Treasure Goblins.

Public Test Realm (PTR)

PC players can test these changes during the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR from June 25 to July 2 on Battle.net.

Conclusion

Season 5 of Diablo 4, starting in August, promises to bring a refreshing and challenging endgame experience with the Infernal Hordes mode, along with several quality-of-life updates and new items. This is a significant lead-up to the "Vessel of Hatred" expansion set to release in October.
