​For those having graphics issues after patching

So, I am seeing a lot of people had the same issue I had, I logged in after patch to check if all was okay as I am really waiting for ladder, and jumped into a game and noticed it kinda stuttering and it went down to like 25 fps, something I never had before.


Here's how I solved it. Go into the game's video settings and make sure to check the box that lets the game automatically alter the video settings at will to maintain the same 60 frames per second.


It'll simply alter certain things, like settings for shadows and other things, adjusting them up or down depending on the need. As you play, you'll not be aware of it. It was an all-inclusive correction.


If the players in this thread have been playing since the game's launch and haven't reinstalled the game, they should think about doing it. The game's filesystem gets fragmented, causing identical documents to read several times due to the way the game's indexing system functions. Reinstalling the game will give players an uncontiguous version that's not fragmented anymore and will function optimally when it comes to access to data.


The drawbacks of doing an upgrade are very real. If you're experiencing slow internet, it could take approximately 2 to 3 hours to install. It is true that not all users have gigabit broadband like me and is unable to transfer at the speed of 112MB/s. The other issue is the issue with data caps. 30GB isn't enough unless you also stream a lot. This is when your data usage becomes something you need to be watching. The final issue is that you have to delete the Beta and/or PTR D2R installations too, otherwise the fragmented installations will be transferred into the Live (Retail) folder before final patching process begins, making it impossible to do the restart in the first instance. One benefit of the deletion of the PTR/Beta folders is that they are completely removed away from Live after you "reinstall" the branches.


Fresh reinstalls can speed up the game more than you believe in the event that you haven't performed the reinstall after several patches.
