Some Realism In NBA 2K22 MyTeam

"Realism" doesn't lead to a variety in gameplay. No one could shoot at the beginning of this 2K, which led to a paint mashup meta that literally just searched for the word "mashup" and looked at all the people complaining about the state of the game in the sub. Most popular MyTeam content creators also hate mash metadata. Only a tiny fraction of the community is actually considering running a drama/complex freelancer. You all underestimate the average player, people will always find easy+cheesy ways to play instead of complex+efficient ones. The metadata may vary, but there will still be metadata.

You are right, there is always metadata. But that doesn't mean that the variety of playstyles can't be vastly improved from where it is now. They make all players the same, which makes it almost impossible for them to play differently. If your players have strengths and weaknesses, and the badge distribution is more realistic, you can actually make things a little bit unique. Like 5 out vs 4out 1in or big back vs small back.

I don't necessarily think realistic badges/stats make the game more unique, it just makes your opponents more predictable. It's just easier to game plan around cards that have obvious weaknesses, I don't think that leads to variety in gameplay, but rather more attack on those weaknesses. Even in a real-life MyTeam setting, the Embiid/Anthony Davis big man might end up being their versatile meta bc. This will still be a very PNR-dominated game.

I'm basically describing what myteam IDK was 5 years ago if you were playing. Yes, you are right, it becomes an attack weakness. That's how basketball is played. There is no perfect player at every position in the IRL.

Yes, big guys like AD are probably the best and most used. But if you want a really good 5 shooter, you'll use KAT or Porzingis, and you'll have to live with their weaker defense. If you want a really athletic and great defender, you might use Wilt, Shaq, or Dwight, but then you can't go 5 out. It's three different styles of big men in the game, and it's definitely diverse for me.

Same as pgs. If you want size, defense, and penetration, you can use magic or pennies or even LeBron at this point. But those guys can't dribble or shoot like Kerika, so you have to pick your style. Again, that's not diversity. As it is now, every card in every position can have no weaknesses. This makes the game converge to the one thing that has an effect now, which is 3>2. Everyone has to play 3 hunt 5out style to be competitive.
